Kentucky Speedway’s Ford Fan Day Returns April 25 with Special Guest Sterling Marlin

Kentucky Speedway’s Ford Fan Day returns Saturday, April 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event gives visitors a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the venue while enjoying family oriented activities, food, pace car rides, musical entertainment, and meeting two-time Daytona 500 Champion Sterling Marlin from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
 
The Tennessee native competed for 33 years in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) where he captured 10 wins including a 1994 and 1995 Daytona 500 victory. In 2005, Marlin competed in one NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at the track where he finished sixth.
 
Guests will be able to tour the spotters stand, flag stand, garages, owner’s suite, press box, campgrounds. As well as see Gravelrama, FSAE Cars from the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Motorsports and Fire and Safety vehicles. Visitors are able to have their photo taken in Victory Lane with the Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts trophy and the No. 22 Penske show car.
 
Attendees will also have the opportunity to test drive the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 from 11 a.m., to 2 p.m. Fans will test the trucks new features that include high-strength, military grade, aluminum-alloy body and high-strength steel frame for less weight yet greater strength. Along with the trucks improved power-to-weight ratio across the entire 4-engine lineup for greater performance.
 
Fans can learn more about the speedway from our General Manager Mark Simendinger during the “Ask the GM” question-and-answer session at 1:45 p.m. in Bluegrass Hall in the infield. Fans will also be able to talk to motorsports experts during the “Racing Roundtable” chats at 1 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. Those sessions will also be in Bluegrass Hall in the infield.
 
The popular Kids Zone will be filled with activities such as face painting, Hot Wheels racing, a pit stop tire challenge, inflatables, popcorn, and bean bag toss into tires.
 
New this year is TeamZOOM Canine Entertainment a spectacular dog variety show that entails upbeat routines set to music at 12:30 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. TeamZOOM can provide super charged family fun with death defying leaps, incredible speeds, unique tricks and unimaginable athleticism such as flying through the air to catch a Frisbee, racing through an agility course, performing unique tricks. 
 
The Kentucky Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities Ford Fan Day Online Auction is offering a one-of-kind experience with Marlin. The winning bidder will take five laps around the 1.5-mile tri-oval in the track’s Official Pace vehicle. Bidding opens Monday, April 13 through Wednesday, April 22. In addition, visitors will hear music from NantzLane Band, a country-blues group from Dry Ridge (Kentucky). The five member group formed in 2012 where they have made appearances at the Madison Theater, Bobby Mackey’s Music World, and the Silver Dollar in Nashville (Tennessee).

Ford Fan Day will set the stage for the first of two Kentucky Speedway event weekends. The season opens with a NASCAR tripleheader featuring the NSCS Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts July 11, a 300-mile NXS race Friday, July 10 and the Camping World Truck Series UNOH 225 Thursday, July 9. Racing continues in September when the NXS returns Sept. 26 for the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway. ARCA Racing Series (ARS) action opens the weekend with a 150-mile event Friday night, Sept. 25.
