Speedway Superstar and Trophy Tour Kicks Off Month of Fun For Fans As Countdown to 10 Days of Thunder Begins

As Charlotte Motor Speedway gears up for the biggest 10 Days of NASCAR Thunder in speedway history, officials are taking the fun on the road, getting fans revved up during a 16-city Speedway Superstar and Trophy Tour across North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The tour, presented by Coca-Cola, Walmart and Sprint, kicked off Wednesday at a Concord, North Carolina Walmart, with appearances by Concord Mayor Scott Padgett, Miss Sprint Cups Madison Martin and Julianna White and NASCAR Hall of Famer Junior Johnson.

“Since 1960, the speedway has put on the biggest show in the United States,” Padgett said. “I’m especially proud because of the way they honor the veterans and those who are in the service now. It’s the biggest Memorial Day celebration in the United States. We’re going to have people from all 50 states, and all around the world right here in Concord at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”

And if history is any indication, Johnson said fans are in for a treat, with great racing and exciting finishes that often come down to the final laps.

“I could outrun anybody on Charlotte Motor Speedway, but a 600-mile race, you’re lucky to run them all,” Johnson said. “I had one where a tire went bad on the last lap. I ran out of gas with one lap to go on another one.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway is very special to all of us. It’s been a race track that has developed to the point that the rest of the people try to copy it.”

In addition to getting autographs from NASCAR personalities and taking photos with the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 trophies, fans auditioned for one of five chances to sing during a race event at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. Auditions continue at Speedway Superstar and Trophy Tour stops through May 13. For more details, click here.

Fans also took advantage of great ticket offers, speedway giveaways and the chance to nominate a military veteran for the chance to win a 2015 Toyota Camry during Coca-Cola 600 weekend.
