The Darlington County Education Foundation announces it will host a country concert at Darlington Raceway on Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 5 p.m.-11 p.m.
The concert will feature Nashville recording artists’ Outshyne, Radio Romance and John Stone.
Tickets to the event will be $15 each and go on sale Monday, March 30, with proceeds benefiting the Darlington County Education Foundation. They can be purchased at Darlington Raceway, Carolina Bank locations, Markette Convenience Stores, Vintage and Midnight Rooster in Hartsville.
The concert will take place in the track’s famed infield. Concessions will be available for purchase. Coolers will be prohibited, but fans may bring their own lawn chairs.
“The DCEF is very excited to be hosting our first concert fundraiser at Darlington Raceway,” DCEF executive director Andrea Pulling said. “We have great musical talent lined up and know the evening is going to be a lot of fun for everyone, so please make plans to attend.”
Outshyne hails from Laurens, S.C. Their music has a country feel with rock overtones. Outshyne formed in 2007 and turned their passion for music into a full time endeavor doing 150-180 dates a year beginning in 2010.
They have opened for country music superstars including, Jake Owen, Eric Church, Lee Brice, Colt Ford, Joe Nichols, Gary Allen, and Justin Moore. The band performed the pre-race concert and lead singer Waylon Owings sang the National Anthem for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway in 2013. The band has raised over $130,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and played on the Hard Rock stage for CMA Fest.
“We’ve always enjoyed playing at Darlington Raceway. We have a lot of loyal fans in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. It will be great to play for them again at one of NASCAR’s most storied racetracks and support a great organization like the Darlington County Education Foundation,” Owings said.
Lead vocalist Sam Hayes, guitarist Josh Gramling and drummer Moises Padilla are Radio Romance, a Nashville-based trio rapidly gaining a reputation for no-holds-barred honesty in their songwriting and a fresh, distinctive sound that owes as much to their musical differences as it does their common bond.
Radio Romance has played numerous dates around the country, including at Darlington Raceway’s Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-off and Car Show last November. Radio Romance and Outshyne are both represented by Buddy Lee Attractions out of Nashville.
John Stone is a proficient, self-taught musician who has introduced his talents as a mainstay-recording artist. Stone, who is named after his grandfather, grew up in a modest home environment surrounded by folks he describes as “just good people.”
Stone has proven himself as a world-class songwriter with the success of his first self-penned single “Shame On Me.” He has visited hundreds of radio stations across the nation and has toured with and opened for some of today’s hottest country acts, including Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Craig Morgan and Gretchen Wilson. His musical resume also includes live television performances, including appearances on The Today Show with Katie Couric and as part of Tim McGraw’s NFL Halftime highlights segment taped for Monday Night Football.
The Darlington County Education Foundation was founded in 1998 with the purpose to enhance the educational experience for students in public schools across Darlington County by funding grants for classroom and/or school-wide projects. The grants being awarded are enriching children’s lives every day and these young lives are the basis for the community’s future growth and prosperity.
