Thomas, Barnett And Hetu Earn First Victory At Dillon Motor Speedway

Dillon Motor Speedway hosted the Late Models, Mid Atlantic Street Stocks (MASS) and the Four Cylinder Mayhems on Saturday, March 21 for the Raceway Automotive 200.

Andrew Thomas absolutely dominated the 75-lap Late Model feature on Saturday night to earn his first victory at Dillon Motor Speedway. In the closing laps, Thomas was able to hold off locals, Randy Benson and Justin Hicks who finished second and third respectively. Bobby Gower finished fourth, and Greg Peterson rounded out the top-five.

Gregg Barnett captured an emotional win as he rolled into Victory Lane for the first time at the speedway. The race was dominated by Jason Calhoun, Jeff Melton and Sonny Schoffen. The 60-lap feature was very clean, only seeing two accidents. In the closing laps, leaders, Calhoun and Schoffen got together in Turn 4, opening the door for Barnett to capitalize on the final restart on lap 57. He took the checkered flag, followed by Jonathan Kornegay, Jeff Melton, Ted Somero and Ricky Locklair Jr.

Kris Hetu passed pole sitter, AJ Sanders on lap 35 to take the lead, and eventually the win in the 60-lap Four Cylinder Mayhem feature. The win was also his first at the speedway. Sanders held on for a runner-up finish. Brandon Clements finished third, and Neil Meredith finished fifth. Will Smith rounded out the top-five. AJ Jackson was the highest finishing FWD car in the feature.

Dillon Motor Speedway will host Media Day on Sunday, April 19 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Media Day will also be an open practice day for drivers.

As for the next race, the Western Sizzlin 200 will kick off the points season on Saturday, April 25. The green flag is set for 7:30 p.m. Late Models will be competing, as well as Chargers, Street Stocks, Pure Stock Fours, Mini Cup Stocks and the Allison Legacy Series.
