NKNPS: Casey’s General Stores 150 Race Preview

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series strolls into Iowa Speedway for the Casey’s General Store 150. The race marks the only East and West combination race of the year at the 0.875-mile oval. The weekend marks the 10th race of the season for the East and the eighth for the West division.

The entry list features 34 drivers. Some of those include Austin Theriault, Collin Cabre, Will Rodgers, Noah Gragson, Ryan Partridge, Harrison Burton, Hunter Baize, Todd Gilliland, Blaine Perkins, Gracin Raz, Jesse Little, Kyle Benjamin, Chris Eggleston and Spencer Davis.

Justin Hayley enters Iowa leading the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East division standings by 40 points over Kyle Benjamin. Noah Gragson sits third looking 48 points behind Hayley. Spencer Davis and Austin Theriault round out the top five.

Ryan Partridge leads the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West standings by three points over Todd Gilliland. Gilliland is the son of part-time Sprint Cup Series driver David Gilliland. Chris Eggleston sits third looking 13 points behind the leader. Noah Gragson and Gracin Raz round out the top five.

Brandon McReynolds, who is not entered into the Casey General Stores 150, is the defending race winner at Iowa. In addition, McReynolds swept both K&N races there last season. This season, however, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series only makes one visit at the 0.875-mile oval. The young driver led 127 laps of the race to win by 0.696 seconds over Jesse Little.

Winning this race is special as some NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers won this event in the past. Joey Logano won the inaugural event in 2007 by leading 58 of the 200 laps. Kevin Harvick finished behind Logano in second when the checkered flag waved. Kyle Busch added his name to the win column at Iowa back in 2009. The Las Vegas native led 168 of 200 laps. David Mayhew, Brett Moffitt, Chase Elliott, Corey LaJoie, Cole Custer, Ben Rhodes and Brandon Jones all hold wins at Iowa.

The Casey’s General Stores 150 will air August 5th at 2:00 p.m. ET. on NBCSN. You can follow live coverage of the race by visiting NASCARHomeTracks.com. That live coverage is provided by Speed51.
