The No. 18 Kobalt Tools Ford Fiesta ST team will celebrate the Fourth of July weekend at Marine Corps Air Station New River for Rounds 6 and 7 of the Red Bull Global Rallycross Season. The races will take place on the airstrip of the Marine Base with a nine turn, .713-mile track consisting of 58.3% pavement and 41.7% dirt.
“First off, I’m excited that we are racing on a military base.” said Sandell, “We really appreciated that last year and it was a fantastic weekend overall. The second thing is there is so much dirt on the track which makes the car loose and I like when you can drift it around and still drive it fast, not only sideways. My Kobalt Tools Ford Fiesta ST is really good on this type of surface.”
Although Patrik is of Swedish nationality, racing at MCAS New River is special to him because of the interaction with the US Military men and women.
“Sweden is a really small country and you almost don’t have any military,” said Sandell, “We as a small country rely on and very much appreciate what America is doing all over the world to keep everybody safe, so it’s a special feeling for me as well to be in an American military base.
