Two for Two: Martin-McClure Racing Secures Second Victory in as Many Races

Martin-McClure Racing added to their recent success in Bristol by capturing their second victory as an organization in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Austin Cindric, the team’s newest driver, took the checkered flag home after a hard fought victory in the Biscuitville 125 at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, VA.

Cindric, driver of the No. 39 Reynolds Wrap / K n T Sports Memorabilia Toyota Camry, started the event from the pole position following impressive runs in both practice and qualifying. Cindric, who remained solidly in the top 5 throughout the only practice session of the day, worked closely with crew chief, Chris Carrier, to prepare the car for the race. After a small chassis adjustment late in the session, Cindric rose to the top of the board and ended practice in the first position. During qualifying, Cindric led the third and final qualifying group out onto the track and ran just one lap securing the 21 Means 21 Pole Award with a time of 1:27.792.

Cindric led the field to the green flag and maintained the lead for the first 26 laps. After relinquishing the lead just before the mid-race break, Cindric began conserving his tires in hopes to make a late-race charge to regain the lead. With two laps to go, Cindric made his move, regained the lead, and held off a hard charging JJ Haley to secure his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win in his first series start. Cindric would lead a race-high 29 laps en route to victory. As he crossed the finish line, the excitement in the pit area was palpable as Cindric radioed, “I just won a NASCAR race!”

Austin Cindric will rejoin the Martin-McClure Racing organization for the Bully Hill Vineyards 100 at Watkins Glen International on August 5th, 2016
