GREE Gives Gus Dean Second Chance With Mason Mitchell Motorsports For Talladega Debut

Gus Dean is back. Coming fully-armed with a stout No. 98 GREE Chevrolet from Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM), the pair looks to make magic happen in Friday’s General Tire 200 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

This weekend, the duo hopes to finish what they started nearly two and a half months ago at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, where a fast car and reasonable expectations were ruined before Dean could even reach 12.5 miles. Two laps into the race, Dean, 21, found himself involved in the “Big One,” when a multi-car crash erupted near the front of the field with Dean becoming one of many innocent victims along the way.

Now, thanks to GREE, the world’s largest manufacturer of specialized Cooling & Heating Products, nothing but redemption is on the line for the 2014 ARCA championship team.

“I’m ready to get to Talladega, so ready,” said Dean. “Daytona was unfortunate, no matter how you look at it. I was so pumped. We had a really fast car, a lot of support and it was over in two laps. That’s racing. I get it. It’s just stinks. Thankfully, we have another opportunity thanks to GREE and we’re excited to see how it all pans out.”

Mason Mitchell, the 2014 ARCA champion along with his family-owned crew have spent countless number of hours massaging the No. 98 GREE Chevrolet preparing for a 76-lap battle Friday afternoon.

“We’re excited to have Gus Dean back with Mason Mitchell Motorsports,” Mitchell said. “We’re bringing him a great hot road this weekend and we know he has what it takes to keep the No. 98 GREE Chevrolet out front and in contention.”

Both the driver and team realize that despite Dean’s inexperience at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, the largest oval on the circuit, the fundamental that the Bluffton, South Carolina native grasped at Daytona can easily be applied Friday.

“It’s a quick schedule Friday, practice, qualify and race,” added Dean. “I’m used to that. Just not in ARCA. I think that’s a good thing though – it will keep us focused and not have worrying about what we should be doing. I understand the draft, even though I don’t have a lot of experience with it. I’ll be relying on my team and veteran spotter Tyler Green a lot. We don’t have a teammate Friday, but I know our of goals during practice and qualifying is to find some drivers that we can work with that can help us no matter the situation during the race. “For us, we just have to stay focused, do our thing and hope luck is on our side.

GREE will be joined by its master distributor for the US market, Tradewinds Climate Systems, as well as a number of their regional wholesalers, salespeople, and most importantly, fellow race fans. The company, which ranked 385th in Forbes’ Global 2000 possesses 18,000 active patents for products sold in 160 countries.

“GREE and Tradewinds is very excited to be supporting Gus Dean, Mason Mitchell Motorsports and being involved in our ARCA Racing Series debut at Talladega Superspeedway,” offered Tradewinds Climate Systems president Dave Pearson. “We look forward to attending the race and rooting for Gus as we hope he makes some “cool” moves towards Victory Lane.”

In addition to GREE, Dean and MMM welcome Cab Installers back as an major associate marketing partner for the final restrictor plate race of the season. The South Carolina-based company has been a longtime supporter of Dean and made the continues to follow his path as he attempts to reach the pinnacle of motorsports competition.

Like Daytona, Dean and MMM will carry a on-board camera offering viewers from home a unique prospective and view from inside the No. 98 GREE / Cab Installers Chevrolet.

The fourth installment for the 2016 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season is set for Friday, Apr. 29 from the 2.66-mile superspeedway Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The event will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) beginning at 4:00 p.m. The General Tire 200 (76 laps / 202 miles) serves as the first of three racing events at the restrictor plate track joining the NASCAR XFINITY and Sprint Cup Series respectively.
