Delsaux And Ercoli Complete Successful Test At New Smyrna

Ulysse Delsaux and Gianmarco Ercoli completed a very positive Pro Late Model test session on Wednesday at New Smyrna Speedway, to acquaint with the half-mile oval in preparation of this weekend’s races.

Both will take part in the season-opening World Series Of Asphalt Racing thanks to the Nexteer Road To Daytona program, the path designed by NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and Nexteer automotive to grant European drivers the best chances to compete in NASCAR in the US: Delsaux will make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut on Sunday in the Jet Tools 500, while Ercoli anticipated his first race in the US to Friday night and will drive in the Pro Late Model Division.

The two young NASCAR Whelen Euro Series drivers trained for a full day under the guidance of NASCAR legend and 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Mike Skinner, showing a strong, consistent pace and a positive attitude deriving from their experience on the European ovals.

“Both Ulysse and Gianmarco were very impressive and we look forward to watch them racing. The NWES organization is very proud of its young talents!” said Jerome Galpin, NASCAR Whelen Euro Series President / CEO.

“This test was important to get back in the car and rediscover the track and all the reference points around it,” said Delsaux, who took part in his second test at the historic track, after inclement weather canceled his debut last summer, and was immediately up to speed. “The feeling was really good from the first lap. Now we’ll get to know the K&N Pro Series car on Saturday and we will be ready for the race. I know we have all it takes to do a solid race and bring home a good result for NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and Nexteer.”

With chances of bad weather for Monday, Ercoli opted to move his American debut to Friday and used the test to learn as much as possible before entering the Pro Late Model Division field.

“It took a few laps to adapt and then the fun begun. It was a fantastic experience and I have to thank NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and Nexteer for this,” said the 2015 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series ELITE 2 Division champion. “I really learned a lot, especially about the track and how to find the ideal line. We tried a lot of different things and I’m confident that we can do a good race. we’ll do our best!”

Ercoli’s Pro Late Model division race will be among the events broadcasted live on Fanschoice.tv starting from 1:30 am CET during the night between Friday and Saturday.
