General Tire Announces Major Participation Programs for ARCA

Officials of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and General Tire announced several major awards benefiting series race teams to be sponsored by General Tire throughout the 2016 race season.

For starters, the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge will distribute $35,000 among the top 10 ARCA Racing Series teams racing in all 8 superspeedway races in 2016. The events will take place at Daytona, Talladega, Michigan, Chicagoland, Kentucky, Kansas and the two races at Pocono.

Additionally, the winner of each superspeedway race earns a $1,500 General Tire Victory Bonus. The point structure for the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge will also contain a unique twist. Races in which General Tire is the entitled sponsor or presenting sponsor, double points will be earned toward the year-end award.

“We feel that part of our responsibility as a series partner is to reward the drivers and team owners involved in the sport,” said General Tire’s director of marketing, Travis Roffler. “Supporting these various awards is a way of letting them know that we appreciate their efforts.”

General Tire, the Official Tire Supplier of the ARCA Racing Series, will also provide a $2,500 Champion Bonus to the Series championship team, and a $2,500 Victory Bonus to the driver who wins the most races in 2016, both awards doled out to team owners at the year-end awards banquet. Winners of every race in 2016 will also receive a General Tire Victory Bonus, rewarding the winning team with $1,500 at each superspeedway race and $750 at each short-track or road course race throughout the season.

“General Tire has quickly and clearly established its across-the-board support for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, and these team awards programs are further evidence of that support,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “General Tire’s activation in team awards, race event entitlements, media engagement and in-market and at-track presence is a welcome addition.”

An additional component of General Tire’s year-end awards participation will include entitlement of the General Tire Spirit Award. The recipient will receive a $2,500 award, and General Tire will donate another $2,500 to the recipient’s charity of choice. The General Tire Spirit Award recipient will go through a nomination process, with a nominating committee consisting of both General Tire and ARCA officials.

“When we get involved in a sponsorship, we feel that it’s important to do more than put our signs up,” concluded Roffler. “We want to support the areas that positively affect the core people of the sport.”
