NASCAR Truck Rookie William Byron Set for ARCA’s Season Opener at Daytona

William Byron, last season’s 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Champion, will make his superspeedway debut at Daytona International Speedway in Saturday’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards (ARCA) season opening Lucas Oil 200 Powered by General Tire.

“I am thrilled to race in my first Superspeedway race. I know how important it is for us to run all of the laps in our Toyota and be there on the final lap to make a run at the win. I’m looking forward to racing with Venturini Motorsports and Liberty University on a big stage like Daytona in the ARCA Series,” said Byron. “The track was as I expected it to be at testing last month. It’s fast and that makes it a lot of fun. Working in the draft and gaining that experience was huge.”

Byron, a highly touted rookie out of Charlotte, North Carolina, made more headlines during the offseason after signing with Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) for a full season effort in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).

Daytona will mark Byron’s third ARCA career start – all with Venturini Motorsports – and is required for the 18-year old rookie to obtain NASCAR’s final approval before he competes in the NCWTS event at Daytona on February 19th.

During his ARCA debut in 2015 at Lucas Oil Raceway, Byron led a race high 120-laps before finishing second. In his second career series start at Kentucky Speedway later in the year, Byron captured Pole position and finished 34th after a lap-1 altercation.

The 53rd annual Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire at Daytona is live on FOX SPORTS 1 at 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 13th and precedes NASCAR’s same-night Sprint Unlimited. The ARCA Racing Series takes to the track for practice Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
