Gaulding joins Lira Motorsports for ARCA test

Gray Gaulding, a 17-year old Virginia native and NASCAR Next alumnus, will join the Lira Motorsports team for the annual testing event later this week at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards.

“I’m super pumped to get behind the wheel of an ARCA car at the most prestigious track on the circuit.” said Gaulding. “It’s always been a childhood dream to win at Daytona.”

Gaulding, comes to the team with superior experience behind the wheel. During the 2015 season, Gray competed in four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events for the famous Kyle Busch Motorsports, and in 2014 competed in nine races. In 2013, Gray competed in the NASCAR K&N Series earning two poles becoming the youngest pole winner in NASCAR history (15 years, 2 months, 15 days), one win, and was named as part of the NASCAR Next program for the 2014 season.

“I can’t wait to get in a pack and learn the draft, but most importantly I want to learn the “Can’s”, and “Cannot’s” of the draft to know how to do it the right way and not get myself in trouble. Overall I’m really looking forward to working with everyone at Lira Motorsports.”

Fellow Virginia native and team Crew Chief, Teddy Brown, will over see the Ford Fusion that Gray will wheel around the 2.5-mile superspeedway, better known as the “World Center of Racing”.

“We are excited to have Gray come aboard for the ARCA test this week.,” said Brown. “The team is looking to help out and provide Gray with some of the best results in the garage as he will take his first laps around Daytona.”
