ECR Engines Claims Another TUDOR Series Engine Manufacturer Championship

When the checkered fell at Road Atlanta this past weekend, ECR Engines had once again laid claim to the Prototype Engine Manufacturer title in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

This year’s championship is the fourth for the Corvette Daytona Prototype and winning eight of the season’s 10 races further solidified ECR’s and Chevrolet’s dominance.

ECR and Chevrolet had previously won Prototype Engine Championships in 2012 and 2013 as part of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, and again in last season’s inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

Brian Goble is the Corvette Daytona Prototype Engine Program Manager at ECR Engines and works with four other ECR engine builders in the Series.

“Winning two years in a row is incredible,” Goble said. “What’s even more incredible is we had zero engine issues with any of our four Corvette DP teams this year. The durability and horsepower kept them all teams competitive in every race.

“Our ECR Engines team of Judd Glenn, Joe London, Scott Meesters and Ben Michael made it all happen. They were an integral part of why ECR and Chevrolet won this engine championship.”

Each of the four Corvette Daytona Prototype teams in this year’s championship won races. Action Express Racing’s No. 5 Mustang Sampling Corvette DP also won the overall championship. They were joined in victory lanes this year by the No. 31 Whelen Engineering/Team Fox Corvette DP, Wayne Taylor Racing’s No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP and VIsitFlorida.com Racing’s No. 90 Corvette Daytona Prototype.

“It is an honor for Chevrolet to win the second-consecutive Prototype Engine Manufacturer title in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “The 2015 season was a huge success for the Corvette Daytona Prototype program.

“It is a credit to our four Corvette DP teams, our Chevrolet engineers, and our technical partners at ECR Engines and Pratt & Miller.”

In four seasons, the Corvette DP program has recorded 29 victories. One of the more notable wins this year was the 12 Hours of Sebring, which Chevrolet had not won in 50 years. ECR Engines led the Engine Manufacturer standings since that Sebring win in March. Corvette DPs also have recorded 19 podium finishes and four pole positions during the past four seasons.
