NASCAR D4D Participant JA Junior Set To Return To Lira Motorsports For The ARCA Season Finale

ira Motorsports has announced that Jairo Avila, Jr., who goes by the nickname JA Junior, will return to the team for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season finale at Kansas Speedway. The twenty-year old driver from Alhambra, California drove for the team in his ARCA Racing debut earlier this year at Pocono Speedway in August. He’ll be behind the wheel of Lira’s number 36 car for the Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 on Friday night, October 16th.

“I feel really excited to come back and race in the ARCA Series,” Avila commented. “This will be my first time racing at Kansas Speedway. I’ve been practicing a lot on my iRacing simulator to prepare for the race. Also, I learned a lot in my first race at Pocono, so I feel I will be able to get a better result at Kansas than I had in my debut.”

JA Junior’s car will be sponsored by Art General Contractor, Inc., as well as Lira Motorosports season-long partners Momo, TraqGear and Ford Performance. Art General Contractors is a highly rated, fully-licensed contracting company based in Los Angeles, California.

Since his race in Pocono, JA Junior has kept busy behind the wheel in a combination of Lucas Oil Modified Series events and INEX Legends Cars races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Returning to ARCA Racing, however, has been on his mind since August.

Also since Pocono, it was announced that JA Junior is one of twenty-two drivers that will be competing for a spot in the motorsport industry’s top driver development program, the NASCAR Drive for Diversity (D4D), set to commence at Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA., Oct. 19-21, 2015. Now in its 12th year, the annual Combine invites promising ethnically diverse and female drivers, ages 14 to 26, from across North America to test their skills over a three-day period in order to identify members of the NASCAR D4D Class of 2016. This is JA’s second consecutive year being invited to the combine.

“I want to thank all the people that have helped me throughout my career and and helped me reach where I am today, especially my amazing parents,” Avila said. “I also want to thank Carlos Lira and Lira Motorsports for giving me this opportunity once again. ARCA is an amazing series. A lot of up and coming racecar drivers have competed in the ARCA Series. I’m looking forward to getting on the track in Kansas, and to helping Lira Motorsports end the season strong as part of their four car effort there. ”

On-track schedule: On Friday, October 16th the ARCA Racing Series drivers will have a two-hour practice session between 9:30-11:30am. Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell is set to begin at 2:30pm. The green flag for the The Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 is scheduled for 7:30pm, with live coverage on FOX Sports 1. ARCAracing.com will also feature live timing and scoring of all on-track activities. The race is 100 laps (150 miles).
