NKNPS: Brandon McReynolds Victorious at Iowa Speedway

Brandon McReynolds captured his second career victory of the season late Friday night at the Iowa Speedway. McReynolds started the event from the pole and sat in the second position for majority of the night. The North Carolina native got back around Rico Abreu for the winning spot just after the halftime break and couldn’t be touched from there.

McReynolds made some history at the 0.875-mile oval. The young driver became the first repeat winner at the track in 13 total races. He also won the event earlier in the year at the track in May.

Jesse Little will walk away with the runner-up spot in his No. 1 Yazaki/Nishikawa Toyota after taking the green flag in seventh. Little will earn his second top five and second top 10 finish of the 2015 season. The North Carolina native took the checkered flag 0.696 seconds later than McReynolds.

Spencer Davis rounds out the top three finishers of the night. Davis qualified his No. 20 Ruud Chevrolet in the fourth position that helped him stay upfront all night long. Davis will leave the Iowa Speedway with his first career top five finish in the series.

Rico Abreu had one of the best cars of the evening in the first half of the race but could not back that performance up in the second half. Abreu led majority of the laps in his No. 98 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet after taking the green flag in third. The 23-year old will walk away with a fourth-place finish.

James Bickford will match his car number with the sixth-place finish in his Sunrise Ford. Bickford started the race right beside the pole and race winner when the Thanks Kenny 150 went green. The finish will give the driver his sixth top 10 of the year.

William Byron came into the Iowa Speedway with the series points lead. Byron will not take a hit despite a 19th-place finish. Austin Hill, who sat second coming into the event, will leave the Iowa Speedway with a 26th-place run.

Chris Eggleston came into the day leading the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West points by one point over Noah Gragson. Eggleston will leave the Iowa Speedway with a 16th-place finishing effort. Gragson took the checkered flag in fifth.

This race can be seen on NBCSN at 2:30 p.m. ET. on August 6.
