HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Preview: Iowa Speedway

Iowa Speedway...The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) heads back to Iowa Speedway this weekend for the final time in 2015 for the #ThanksKenny150. This weekend’s race also marks the final NKNPSE vs. NASCAR K&N Pro Series West showdown of the year. HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks looks to continue this year’s success, after winning six of eight races so far this season. The team’s most-recent victory was the last time out at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where William Byron captured his fourth win of 2015 with Scott Heckert finishing runner-up, and J.J. Haley, Rico Abreu and Dalton Sargeant all finishing in the top 12.

No. 5 J.J. Haley…Haley comes into the #ThanksKenny150 race at Iowa Speedway looking to build upon a good run at the track earlier this season, where the 16-year-old brought home a fourth-place finish. Haley is coming off a run at New Hampshire in which he finished eighth. This weekend marks the third time the Indiana native has visited the 0.875-mile facility. Haley enters the race currently sitting 10th in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

J.J. Haley on returning to Iowa Speedway:

“I can’t wait to get back to one of my favorite tracks this weekend in my No. 5 Braun Auto Chevrolet. My HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks crew and I had a solid run there earlier this year, and we are looking forward to building our momentum and still trying to get a win.”

No. 9 William Byron…Byron enters the #ThanksKenny150 at Iowa Speedway looking to add to the current roll the No. 9 Liberty University team is on. The last time the NKNPSE was on track, Byron captured his fourth victory of the 2015 season. One of his four victories came earlier this year in May at Iowa Speedway, when Byron was the highest finishing NKNPSE driver, which gave the 17-year-old the East win. Byron looks to finish one position better overall and pick up his fifth victory of 2015 this weekend. The NASCAR Next driver enters the weekend leading the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings by 29 points.

William Byron on heading back to Iowa Speedway:

“Iowa is a great facility and race track for our series. I had so much fun the first time we raced there because of how fast it was, so I know the second race will be more of the same. In the first race we were able to get the East series win, so I feel confident about our chances heading into the second Iowa race to have a solid day in the Liberty University Chevy.”

No. 34 Scott Heckert…Heckert enters the #ThanksKenny150 at Iowa Speedway looking to build upon a strong runner-up finish last time out at New Hampshire. The 21-year-old looks to continue his string of recent success at Iowa Speedway, bringing home three-straight top-five finishes in his last three starts at the 0.857-mile track. The Connecticut native looks to better his result and bring home his first Iowa Speedway victory this weekend. Heckert currently sits third in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

Scott Heckert on racing at Iowa Speedway:

“As always, I’m really excited to go back to Iowa Speedway. HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks always brings great cars there, and it’s one of my favorite tracks to race. Hopefully we can take some of the knowledge we learned to finish second at New Hampshire and apply it to the high banks of Iowa Speedway this weekend.”

No. 51 Dalton Sargeant...Sargeant comes into this weekend’s race looking to put forth a strong showing in the No. 51 GALT Chevrolet. Earlier this season in the 17-year-old’s first trip to Iowa, a slow-leaking tire hindered the team’s overall finish, even though Sargeant was running inside the top 10. The Florida native looks to bring home a solid finish in his second start at Iowa. Sargeant enter this weekend’s race fifth in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

Dalton Sargeant on running at Iowa Speedway:

“My No. 51 GALT HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks team is looking forward to going back to Iowa. We’re looking for a little redemption after our last time there when, a cut tire left us with a tough finish. We know we’ve got a good car, so we just need to finish it out this time. I know I’ve learned a lot, and I know our team has learned a lot, since we last were at Iowa so we’ll be looking to bring home a solid finish.”

No. 98 Rico Abreu…Abreu comes into this weekend’s race, the #ThanksKenny150 at Iowa Speedway, looking to continue his string of success as the 23-year-old enters Iowa with three-straight top-10 finishes to his credit. Earlier this season, Abreu got caught up in an incident that hindered his overall finish in his first start at Iowa. The California native hopes for better luck this time out and looks to bring home another solid finish in the No. 98 GoPro Motorplex/AccuDoc Solutions/Curb Records Chevrolet. Abreu enters this race sitting ninth in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

Rico Abreu on returning to Iowa:

“I’m pretty pumped for Iowa. My HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks car had a lot of speed earlier this season at Iowa, so this time we just need better luck. I’m looking forward to getting back to a track we have raced at this year already and improving our overall finish.”
