Blake Jones Races To A Top Ten In His Lira Motorsports Debut

Competing in his first event with Lira Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Blake Jones captured a 7th place finish in the #ThisIsMySpeedway150 at Iowa Speedway on Friday. It was the 18-year old racers second top ten finish in four career ARCA Series starts.

After qualifying his Asphalt Services of TN / Blake Jones Racing Center No. 38 Ford Fusion in the 13th position, Blake spent the first half of the race working his way into the top ten. Once there, he ran as high as second after a two-tire pit stop strategy during the sixth of nine caution periods in the race on lap 100.

The strategy didn’t pay off, as Blake fell back as far as 14th, behind cars that had taken four tires, with less than twenty laps to go in the scheduled distance. However, he fought his way back to the front, gaining seven position in the last 25 laps to take the checkered flag in the 7th position. The race went an extra nine laps, ending on the second green-white-checkered attempt.

“Hard fought day at Iowa Speedway. I kept digging the whole race and brought home a solid top ten,” Blake commented after the race. “I was racing with a new team, at a track I’ve never run before, in a car I had never sat in until Friday morning. Thank you to Carlos Lira and Lira Motorsports for the opportunity to race, and a big thank you to Robbie Fast for spotting and keeping me safe. Not the finish we were hoping for, but I think we learned a lot that I can use going forward.”
