ARCA: Coughlin Scores Chicagoland Speedway Pole

Cody Coughlin captured his second career ARCA Racing Series pole on Saturday at the Chicagoland Speedway after a lap of 31.398 seconds, 171.985 mph. Coughlin, driving the No. 55 JEGS Venturini Motorsports Toyota, earned the pole by 0.093 seconds.

Daniel Suarez, who is running both races at the 1.5-mile oval, will start right beside Coughlin in second. Suarez comes into the weekend looking to capture his first career ARCA win in his third start. At Kentucky Speedway last year, a truck much like Chicago, Suarez took home a runner-up finish.

Taking the green flag in third will be Will Kimmel in the No. 69 Accel Ford. Kimmel posted only one lap in the qualifying session with a fast time of 31.523 seconds, 171.303 mph. The Indiana native comes into the weekend hoping to score his first career ARCA victory.

Ryan Reed, who led the one and only scheduled practice session on Friday, spun while making his qualifying run. Reed was not able to complete a lap and will start at the tail of the field.

Reed posted shortly after on his Twitter that the damage was all cosmetic.
