Sheldon Earns Career-Best Finish at Talladega

Scott Sheldon, driver of the No. 20 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, earned a career-best seventh place finish in the always unpredictable International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The seventh-place effort is the second top-ten finish of Sheldon’s young, three-race, ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards (ARCA) career.

Sheldon began the evening from the 11th position and consistently ran near, or inside, the top-10. As part of the lead draft for the majority of the race’s first half, Sheldon utilized the bottom lane to maintain track position. During the event’s only pit stop, Sheldon made contact with another competitor leaving his pit box after a gas-and-go stop under the lap 42 caution. The Allegiant Travel Chevrolet suffered minimal cosmetic damage and was able to contend among the leaders for the victory in the final stages. Without his GMS Racing teammate, Grant Enfinger, Sheldon was left without a drafting partner on the race’s closing stages and earned his career-best ARCA finish of seventh at the green-white finish.

SCOTT SHELDON QUOTE:
“We had a very good run in our Allegiant Travel Chevrolet today. I enjoy these restrictor plate races, and with each race we keep getting a better result. We had a miscue on pit road, but didn’t hurt the car too bad, and managed to stay up towards the front. I have to thank (crew chief) Shane Huffman and everyone at GMS Racing for preparing a fast car for this weekend. Our performance keeps improving each race, and it shows in the result.”
