Darlington’s Hal Goodson drove the No. 13 Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) Chevrolet to Victory Lane on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
The event marked the first appearance of the FDTC-schemed Super Truck at a racetrack this year. It was also the first points event for the Pee Dee Coastal Super Truck Series of the 2015 season. Goodson now leads the championship point standings. He started from the pole and led all 40 laps ensuring his victory, holding off Clay Thomas in the closing laps.
“The crew, that’s what it’s all about,” Goodson said in Victory Lane. “Clay (Thomas) is a clean racer; it’s good to run with people like that. We were a little bit better. I was looking in the mirror, and I said ‘man he’s waiting, holding on, and he’s coming there at the end’. We learned a few things during the race and changed the line up a bit, and the truck came around.”
Goodson continued, “It’s the first win for Florence-Darlington Technical College. We’re really glad to have them onboard. Sponsors and the people who sit in the seats keep short track racing going!”
Up next for Goodson and the No. 13 FDTC Chevrolet team is the Herald Office Systems 200 at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, S.C. on Saturday, May 23.
