NKNPSE: Kyle Benjamin Scores First Career Victory at Bristol

Kyle Benjamin scored his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory on Saturday at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Benjamin led 81 of the 125 laps at the 0.533-mile oval. His previous best finish came at the Dover International Speedway with a third-place run back in 2013.

Only other driver that could challenge Benjamin for the lead was William Byron. Byron finished in the runner-up spot after leading 44 laps of the race. The Charlotte native came into the weekend with momentum after scoring the win at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Byron started the PittLite 125 from the fourth starting spot.

Scott Heckert brought home a third-place finish behind the wheel of his No. 34 Project Lifesaver Chevrolet after starting the event from sixth. Heckert came into the weekend looking for a much improved finishing position after a 25th at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. The third-place finish marked his second top five of the year.

Jesse Little captured his third career pole on Thursday at the Bristol Motor Speedway. However, the race never went in his favor. On lap 63, Little suffered an electrical problem that took him out of the race. Despite starting on the pole, he did not lead a single lap.

William Byron will leave the Bristol Motor Speedway with the series points lead. Byron leads by three points over Austin Hill. Kyle Benjamin, who captured the victory on Saturday, currently sits third. Gray Gaulding and Kaz Grala round out the top five.

The next race for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will be at the Iowa Speedway on May 16. The race will serve as the first of two combination events with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. NASCAR Home Tracks will provide live online updates during the weekend.

The PittLite 125 will air on Saturday, April 18 on NBCSN. The exact airtime is still to be determined.
