Joey Gattina to drive the No. 95 Carter 2 Motorsports Dodge at the Talladega Superspeedway

Carter 2 Motorsports has announced that Alabaster, Alabama native, Joey Gattina will drive the No. 95 Carter 2 Motorsports Dodge at the Talladega Superspeedway on May 1st.

“Joey is a great driver,” team owner Roger Carter said. “We feel he hasn’t been given an honest shot and, being a driving experience for the speedway, will help him succeed in May.”

The Alabama native is starting his second year in the ARCA Racing Series, as he will attempt his third ARCA Racing Series race in his career and the state of Alabama. Last season at the Mobile International Speedway, he piloted his No. 06 Great Railing – Griffin Serves Chevrolet to a 21st place finish, his career-best finish. His next start came at the Talladega Superspeedway, where he piloted the No. 06 Robby Wells for President Griffin Services Chevrolet to a 31st place finish, after small issues with the car plagued his team.

Outside of ARCA competition, Gattina is an instructor of The Racing Experience, which he drives at many NASCAR tracks throughout the south, most notably being the Talladega Superspeedway.

For Gattina’s second-consecutive Talladega Superspeedway start, he has enlisted in the help of long-time friend and ARCA Racing Series driver Dustin Knowles, who will serve as his Crew Chief. Knowles has ties to Carter 2 Motorsports, as he piloted the No. 40 Carter 2 Motorsports Dodge last season at the Mobile International Speedway.

In addition to Knowles, Billy Melvin will serve as Gattina’s Car Chief and spotter throughout the weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway. The driver, crew, and car chief combination will be looking for some Alabama synergy, as all three are Alabama natives.

The International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 at the Talladega Superspeedway will be run on May 1st. Fox Sports 1 will provide live national television coverage, while ARCARacing.com will provide Live Timing and Scoring throughout the entire event.
