Opportunities Plentiful for Tickle, RCH in St. Louis

General Douglas MacArthur was famously quoted as saying, “There is no security on this Earth, there is only opportunity.”
 
MacArthur’s words ring particularly true for Broc Tickle and RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing as Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, chugs into St. Louis for the 13th of 17 stops on the 2015 calendar.
 
Tickle comes into St. Louis on the heels of his seventh consecutive top 10 and ninth of the season. The Holly, Mich., rider remains 10th in points and trails ninth-place Andrew Short by two heading into this weekend. 
 
“I’ve had a pretty good run of top 10s and I think this week sets up as a great opportunity for me to finally get on the podium,” commented Tickle, who made his Supercross Lites debut in St. Louis in 2007. “I worked on starts all week so hopefully we’ll have that part dialed in Saturday night. If I can get that good jump out of the gate, our Suzuki RM-Z450 has plenty of speed. This is a good opportunity to capitalize on all of our work.”    
 
In two previous St. Louis 450SX starts, Tickle finished 11th both times. He was forced to sit out last year’s trip to the “Lou” while he recovered from a back injury he suffered at the Rogers Centre during the Toronto Supercross.
 
Tickle’s RCH teammate Ken Roczen will be sidelined for the fourth week in a row while he continues to recover from the ankle injury he originally sustained in Round 8 at the Georgia Dome. Roczen is scheduled to return to the seat of his Suzuki April 11 in Houston.
 
RCH co-owner Ricky Carmichael enjoyed tremendous success in St. Louis during his time competing in the professional ranks. Carmichael earned four Premiere Class victories at the venue formerly known as the Transworld Dome. Add those wins to Carmichael’s 1998 Supercross Lites win for a total of five and it’s no surprise the 15-time AMA National Champion has fond memories of spring in St. Louis.
 
“I always loved racing in St. Louis,” explained Carmichael. “The biggest thing I always looked forward to was how good the soil was. There’s just something about the dirt in the Midwest that makes for a great surface and great racing. The fans are great and having a fair amount of success always made that race one I looked forward to. This should be a good track for Broc. He’s a Midwest guy so he knows what to expect. He’s working as hard as ever so we’re looking for a good result this weekend.”

The Edward Jones Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams, plays host when Monster Energy Supercross visits the Gateway to the West this weekend. Round 13 of the 2015 Supercross Championship will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 Saturday, March 28 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 5 p.m. Pacific.
