Joey Mucciacciaro Scores Multiple Top-5 and Top-10 Finishes in the World Series of Asphalt

Joey Mucciacciaro made his LFR Driver Development debut in the No. 45 Chevrolet in the World Series of Asphalt at New Smyrna Speedway last week.

Mucciacciaro competed in seven races during the World Series of Asphalt, scoring two Top-5’s and four Top-10 finishes. The 17-year-old Wolocott, Connecticut native started off the week strong, but an accident during the second half left the car with a bit of damage.

“We had a really good car. These guys prepare such good racecars and we came down here and we had a fast car right off the bat, pushing us almost to victory lane in the beginning and having really strong runs in the beginning of the week,” said Mucciacciaro of his team. “Unfortunately, we had an incident that we couldn’t help and got stuffed in the wall a few nights ago and we were struggling to get the car back ever since. It’s kind of hard. What we think is wrong with it is out of our reach of what we can fix at the racetrack.”

“But I got to hand it off to these guys. They’ve been working their butts off.  But I got to say I definitely thought we’d come out here and win a few this week. I think we are going to have a very strong future ahead of us with this team; definitely win some races this year. These guys can’t get any better than they are.”

Mucciacciaro says he gained a lot of experience from the World Series of Asphalt and looks forward to the rest of the season with his team.

“It’s what everyone says. You come down here and get half of a season in one week or two weeks. I’ve been racing with these guys and they really got to understand my driving style, so we can move on to the next race and kind of understand what we already need to have in the car,” said Mucciacciaro. “We’re all comfortable with each other, cracking jokes all week. We all get along really well, so that’s a huge benefit of it. It takes a lot to be under the same roof for nine days with the same guys, and we all got along and worked through it and had a pretty good week here.”

“Really my main goal in the beginning of the year is coming out and learning everything I can to be as strong as I can at the end of the year. Coming out of this I feel that I learned and got a lot better than I was expecting. I can’t thank the LFR guys enough for that. Working with Jeff [Fultz] and Rob [Fuller] and Ryan Stone and Tony Eury Sr. These guys just really help me progress and get to the next level and really just excel my driving.”
