Tequila Patrón ESM Enters Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup

In addition to submitting full-season entries in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) next season, Tequila Patrón ESM will also race in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.

The four-race Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup events include the Rolex 24 At Daytona at the end of January, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March, Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen in June and Petit Le Mans in October to close the TUDOR Championship season.

“It is incredibly exciting to be back in the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup,” said Scott Sharp, owner and driver, Tequila Patrón ESM. “All four of those events are key global endurance races that every team and driver wants to win! Everyone at Tequila Patrón ESM is excited to bring our brand-new Honda coupes to tackle these tough events. With the combination of our WEC participation, I don’t think I could assemble a better 2015 schedule.  We are going after the best endurance events in the world!”

For 2015, Tequila Patrón ESM will compete in two Tequila Patrón-sponsored Honda Performance Development ARX-04b prototype coupes. The team is scheduled to receive the first coupe later this year to test.

“We’re very excited to run a mix of Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup races with a full season of the WEC,” said Ed Brown, president and CEO of The Patrón Spirits Company and Tequila Patrón ESM driver. “It will be a challenge, but as a team, we’re really excited to get going. We’re thrilled to get back to Daytona in January and be part of the second year of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. It is always a great honor to be able to drive at Daytona, where so many great drivers have competed over the years. Hopefully, we’ll get a win for Tequila Patrón ESM there, so that would be a nice way to kick of the 2015 season. Plus, we’re debuting the new Honda coupe in Tequila Patrón ESM’s home state and we’re looking forward to seeing how competitive it will be. There’s not a better place we can think of to test this Honda coupe’s top speed other than Daytona.”

Tequila Patrón ESM competed in the inaugural TUDOR Championship series in 2014. Brown and co-driver Johannes van Overbeek finished eighth in championship points following their win at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in May. Sharp and co-driver Ryan Dalziel finished ninth in points with a best finish of second at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March.

“We are very pleased to learn the Tequila Patrón ESM team will be joining us for the four Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup rounds in 2015,” said International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) President Scott Atherton. “We expect the competition to be fantastic throughout the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and with the participation of teams like Tequila Patrón ESM, we expect the battle for the Patrón Endurance Cup to take the excitement to another level. The renderings we have seen of the two Patrón HPD ARX-04b prototypes are – as one would expect from ESM – breathtaking. We cannot wait to see them on the track racing for the first time in January at Daytona.”
