PBIR Hosts the 33rd Annual Bennett Auto Supply Citrus Nationals, Presented By South Florida Chevy Dealers

Palm Beach International Raceway™ (PBIR) proudly hosts the 33rd Annual Bennett Auto Supply Citrus Nationals presented by South Florida Chevy Dealers this November 28 – 30, 2014, on the Drag Strip. This year, the event falls on Thanksgiving weekend, and a Car Show, a Pro Mod race and an Outlaw 632 race have been added to the line-up.

The 3-day event begins on Friday, November 28 with Pro Mod and Bracket testing at 9 am followed by the first round of qualifying for Pro Mods at 6 pm. From 6 pm to 11 pm, Test & Tune on the Drag Strip is open to vehicles with slicks and drag radials only.

The Car Show at Citrus Nationals will be held on Saturday, November 29. Plaques will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in these classes: best paint and restoration, best Chevy, oldest car, best interior and a PBIR Choice Award. Also, on Saturday, time runs begin at 9:30 am followed by Pro Mod qualifying at 11:30 am. Time runs start again at 2:30 pm with opening ceremonies and eliminations from 4 pm to 6 pm. On Sunday, November 30, time runs are at 9:30 am with opening ceremonies at noon, and more qualifying runs and eliminations take place throughout the afternoon.

Along with the Pro Mod race and Bracket races, the Citrus Nationals includes a Pro Show with jet funny cars and a wheelstander. Hanna Motorsports’ GOJO Firebird and Top Secret will light up the Drag Strip while Danny O’Day’s Superwinch will run the 1/4 mile at more than 150 mph on two tires. The GOJO Firebird is the only jet funny car in history to run more than 290 mph in the 1/4 mile. The Pro Show is scheduled for 6 pm and 8 pm on Saturday, and also at 3 pm and 5 pm on Sunday.

With more than $43,000 in total payouts, the Citrus Nationals will include these Pro Mod racers: Travis Harvey, Mike Pruss, Tommy D’Aprile, Fast Frank, John Hall, Chuck Mohn and Pete Farber. Travis “Carolina Kid” Harvey won the previous Pro Mod race held at PBIR, the Mod Stomp at the Strip in March 2014.

The event weekend also features these bracket racing classes: Top Eliminator (Box), Super Eliminator (No Box), Quick 16 Door Car, Original Quick 16, Street Bike, Junior Dragsters and Outlaw 632. The winner of the Pro Mod race receives $10,000 while the Top Eliminator winner earns $2,500. Additional payout and pricing information is listed at www.RacePBIR.com.
