SERKET Racing Awarding Scholarships At Road Atlanta To Military Families

SERKET Racing will welcome Kaplan University and American Freedom Foundation to Road Atlanta to honor their partnership for the Kaplan University Military Family Scholarship program.

The program will be awarding one partial and one full scholarship to deserving recipients Oct. 3-4 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia during Rounds 15 and 16 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.

“Our team is highly aware of the obstacles that veterans face upon their return home,” said SERKET Racing driver and former Marine, Mark Llano. “We are excited to work closely with the American Freedom Foundation and Kaplan University to assist these veterans and their families in their time of need.”

The American Freedom Foundation, SERKET Racing and Kaplan University coalition helps promote and raise awareness for the scholarship program, which has already awarded over 500 scholarships to eligible military family members since its inception in 2011.

The program will provide up to 250 scholarships this year, each providing coverage of over 50 percent of tuition costs for a complete degree plan. In addition for every 50 scholarships given one full scholarship will be awarded.

“The American Freedom Foundation/Kaplan University Military Family Scholarship program provides a great opportunity for us to support military and veteran families,” said Sergeant Major of Army (Retired) Jack L. Tilley, Cofounder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of the American Freedom Foundation. “We are delighted that Mark Llano and SERKET Racing are joining the fight, and supporting our mission. Together we can change even more lives through education.”

The recognition of the scholarship recipients this weekend at Road Atlanta will mark the halfway point of the 2014 campaign. Applications will be taken through November.

A website has been established which provides full conditions and an online application at  www.serketracing.kaplan.edu. Applicants can also call (855) 727-2604 for more information.

In addition to awarding the scholarships, SERKET Racing will have a full weekend of racing as it finishes out the final two rounds of the IMSA development series.

SERKET Racing will have two practices on Wednesday with qualifying on Thursday followed by Race 1 at 3:35 p.m. (ET). The second 45-minute race will begin at 11:35 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3.
