McReynolds Ready To Go Road Racing At Miller Motorsports Park

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West travels to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah this week for the second of two road course events on the series schedule in 2014.

The EnergySolutions Utah Grand Prix on Saturday marks the second career series road race for Brandon McReynolds, who drives the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS for Bill McAnally Racing.

McReynolds finished fifth earlier this season on the road course at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. That finish was one of a current string of seven consecutive top-five finishes for the 23-year-old driver from Mooresville, North Carolina.

McReynolds hopes to extend that streak on Saturday in his first visit to the winding 2.2-mile Utah track. In addition to his top-five finishes, he is also coming off three straight podium finishes and back-to-back career-best runner-up finishes (Evergreen Speedway on Aug. 16 and Kern County Raceway Park on Aug. 30).

While he has been one of the most consistent front runners on the circuit this year, McReynolds is still in search of his first career series win as he competes in his first full season in the series. With three events remaining on the 14-race schedule, he knows only a few chances remain to get to Victory Lane.

And as the season winds down, he also looks to gain ground in the championship standings. He is third in points, 26 markers out of first and 11 behind second.

In 11 series starts this season, McReynolds has nine top-five and 10 top-10 finishes – along with two poles. Early in the season, he was named to the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars.

The Utah Grand Prix on Saturday marks the eighth visit by the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West to MMP. Greg Pursley, the 2011 series champion and current points leader, won three of the seven series races there.
