Little’s strong summer continues with return trip to Iowa Speedway

Jesse Little, a third-generation NASCAR driver, looks to keep his summer surge going as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series returns to Iowa Speedway on Friday for the running of the Autolite Iridium XP 150.

This week Little announced a partnership with the City of Newton that has their ‘Get to know Newton’ promotional campaign tied into his racing endeavors on Friday night.

“To be part of the City of Newton’s promotion of the area is a great opportunity for our team,” the 17-year old said. “Iowa Speedway, Newton and the whole area are one race weekend we look forward to each year. The fans show tremendous support for our series, the area is a great place to visit and we’re always treated so well when we visit.”

In the month of July Little has scored a victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway while also posting a top-5 finish at Columbia Speedway.

“We’ve been running very well and it’s helped to get us into the top-5 in the chase for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series championship,” Little said. “Having run strong at New Hampshire, we can use some of that experience to build towards another good weekend in Iowa.”

One thing that Little and his team will bring that’s consistent with their New Hampshire set-up will be a handling package that allows his Chevrolet to rotate through the track’s sweeping corners, he explained.

“We had one of the fastest cars in New Hampshire when it came time to qualify. That helped us stay within the top-5 running order during the race that set us up to score our first victory in the series. We’ll bring a similar handling package to Iowa that lets the car roll through the corners without scrubbing off a lot of speed so that I can get back to the throttle in the straightaways. Momentum is big at Iowa Speedway and we believe our car can be in contention for another solid finish.”

The race is part of a two-week stretch that offers a unique challenge for Little’s team, as they’ll head to the road course of Watkins Glen right after their run at Iowa Speedway.

“This series is one of the toughest in NASCAR. We go from short tracks like Columbus to a big track like Iowa then off to the road course over a three-race span. That makes it challenging for myself our team and we embrace that challenge each week. (Crew chief) Kris Bowen is on top of every aspect of our cars when it comes to preparation for these races and it shows in our results.”
