JR Motorsports Adjusts NNS Slates for Earnhardt Jr., Kahne

JR Motorsports general manager Kelley Earnhardt Miller announced today a change in NASCAR Nationwide Series schedules for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne.

Earnhardt Jr. was previously scheduled to race in the May 4th race at Talladega Superspeedway as part of his four-race Nationwide Series slate in 2013. Now he will compete in the Sept. 14th race at Chicagoland Speedway instead of Talladega. In turn, Kahne will now compete at Talladega as part of his 11-race line-up in 2013. Both drivers will compete in Great Clips-sponsored Chevrolets – Earnhardt in the No. 88 Camaro and Kahne in the No. 5.

Earnhardt Miller made the announcement today on The Dale Jr. Download, a weekly podcast on Dirty Mo Radio. The podcast is available at DaleJr.com and on most podcasting networks such as iTunes.

“Kasey and I were chatting about our Nationwide Series schedules, and I was looking for more track time at a place like Chicago,” said Earnhardt Jr. “Kasey mentioned how he would love a shot at winning at Talladega. Fortunately we have a partner like Great Clips that was willing to work with us. One of our 2013 goals at JR Motorsports is to be a better asset to Hendrick Motorsports. For me personally, this scheduling change helps us do just that.”

Earnhardt Jr. has already completed two of his four races in 2013. He finished fourth at Daytona on Feb. 23 and seventh at Las Vegas this past Saturday. His two remaining races now include the April 12 event at Texas Motor Speedway and the Sept. 14 event at Chicagoland.

Kahne continues to share the work with Brad Sweet in the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet, as together they make up 27 of the 29 Great Clips-sponsored races in 2013. Great Clips, the world’s largest hair salon brand, announced its partnership with JR Motorsports on Jan. 2.
