Engine Failure Relegates McClure to 40th-place Finish at LVMS

Following a disappointing finish at Phoenix Int’l Raceway, Eric McClure headed to Las Vegas Motor Speedway hoping luck would be on his side. However, this wasn’t the case as spotter Stevie Reeves informed the team on lap two that smoke was once again coming from the car. With this news, McClure immediately dropped to the apron and drove his No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds® Toyota straight to the garage where the team determined that an engine failure was once again the culprit. As a result, McClure was credited with a 40th-place finish.

With this finish, the team fell eight positions in the NASCAR Owner Standings heading into next weekend’s event at McClure’s home track Bristol Motor Speedway.

Driver, Eric McClure Quotes: “I am so disappointed right now and I am not even sure that is the right word. I’m frustrated because we had a decent car for today’s race. Unfortunately we didn’t get to show what we had because we had another engine failure. I’m not sure what caused the failure this go around. It’s our second engine failure in as many weeks so we are definitely behind the eight ball with points. We have a good race team and we just need to get this bad luck behind us.”
