Annett to compete in Iowa Fairgrounds’ Battle at the Barn

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Michael Annett will kick off his 2013 racing season in the Iowa State Fairgrounds’ Battle at the Barn, an indoor karting event running Friday, January 25 through Saturday, January 26. The Des Moines native will compete in the 360 and 390 clone classes during the weekend, as well as a 20-lap special feature consisting of the 12 fastest karts and fellow NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace.

The Battle at the Barn, in its fifth year, annually attracts some of the nation’s best kart racers. Annett looks forward to tuning up for his 2013 season as he competes against some of the Midwest’s best kart racers.

“This is a really cool event happening right in my backyard and I’m happy Toby [Kruse, the event’s promoter] invited me,” said Annett, who will begin his second season as a driver for Richard Petty Motorsports in February. “I have a deep appreciation for these racers working hard to fulfill their dreams. They’re good racers, too. I’m looking forward to competing with them and interacting with all the fans that come out.”

Annett will participate in an autograph session on Saturday, January 26 in the Jacobson Building at 6:30 pm. Annett merchandise will be available for purchase.
