Mike Wallace and No. 01 Chevrolet team ready to take on Kentucky

Mike Wallace and the No. 01 Chevrolet team of JD Motorsports w/Gary Keller head to the Bluegrass State looking to keep the good rolling and going at Kentucky Speedway this Saturday for their NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

Wallace, who has two top-five and two top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile oval, wants to remain successful at the Sparta, Ky. track. His teammate, Danny Efland, is looking to add a good finish of his own to the team’s mix in the No. 4 Tradebank Chevrolet.

With seven races remaining in the 2012 season, Wallace and the Newt Moore-lead team are looking for every point and position they can garner. In their favor is the combined veteran experience the two bring to the track each weekend.

That means extra attention to detail, working harder and not letting up from green to checkers to get those favorable results. And, this weekend at Kentucky is one more race in that direction.

Mike Wallace Notes:

  • · This will be Wallace’s 443rdcareer NASCAR Nationwide Series start
  • · After 26 starts this year, the St. Louis native is 12th in points and trails 11th by 22 markers
  • · To date, the team has earned eight top-20 finishes in the last 10 races to keep them in that points battle; one of which was a top-10 (Montreal)
  • · And, Wallace has completed 4,377 of 4,628 laps contested (94.6 percent) and led five races for nine laps
  • · In nine previous starts at Kentucky, he has achieved two top-five and two top-10 finishes
  • · His best start was 17th, twice, in 2006 and 2011. His best finish was third in 2008
  • · He’s completed 1,677 of 1,800 laps contested (93.2 percent) and led two races for 10 laps at Kentucky

  • · The Irmo, SC native will be making his 52ndNNS start of his career
  • · This is his 13th start of 2012 where he’s completed 1,546 of 2,015 laps contested
  • · He has two top-15 and three top-20 finishes, his best was 13th (twice, Daytona)
  • · This will be his third start at Kentucky Speedway
  • · In the two previous starts, he had a best finish of 27th place

There are two practice sessions on Friday with the first being from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET and again from 6 to 7 p.m., none of which are on TV. Qualifying is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with race action at 4 p.m., which is on ESPN2, PRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90 for all 200 laps of action

“We’ve been pretty steady with our finishes lately, so that helps when you have the confidence with the team like I do with our JD Motorsports crew. We’ve had some goofy things take place which robbed us of some of the finishes we should have had in some of our recent races.
