NNS: Texas Motor Speedway Preview

The NASCAR Nationwide Series returns to action on Saturday at the Texas Motor Speedway for the 10th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge 300. The Texas Motor Speedway marks the third to the last race on the calender for the series. Brad Keselowski, who is not entered for Saturday’s race, is the defending winner.

With the entry list featuring 43 drivers, three of those will be going home. Some of them include Kevin Harvick, Ryan Blaney, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, John Wes Townley, Austin Dillon, Chad Boat and Corey LaJoie.

Chase Elliott, who has a big lead in the NASCAR Nationwide Series points standings by 42 over Regan Smith, comes into the Texas Motor Speedway looking to have another solid weekend. Back in April, Elliott led 38 laps to score his first career win in the series, which was in only his sixth career start. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the rookie driver will perform on Saturday.

Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford currently leads the owner’s points standings by 31 over the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing’s Toyota. Joey Logano, who will be driving the No. 22 Ford on Saturday, hopes to get another solid run to continue the point margin ahead of the No. 54 Toyota. Kyle Busch, who has six wins this season in the series, will pilot the No. 54.

Three drivers in Saturday’s race are all natives from Texas. James Buescher, Chris Buescher and David Starr all look to bring home a solid finish. Neither one of these drivers have yet to score a win at the Texas Motor Speedway.

You can catch the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge 300 live on ESPN2 at 3:30 p.m. Et. on Saturday afternoon. Radio coverage will be provided by the Performance Racing Network.
