Brian Scott Earns 20th Top-10 Finish in 2014 at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Brian Scott and the No. 2 Charter Communications Chevrolet Camaro team collected their 27th top-10 qualifying position of the season at Charlotte Motor Speedway after starting third in the Race for the Cure 300. Scott battled with front grip issues through the eight separate restarts in the 200-lap event. Remaining inside the top-10 for the majority of the race, Scott and the Phil Gould-led team made multiple adjustments on their five visits to pit road to better the handling of the No. 2 car. A strategic NASCAR Nationwide Series race, Scott brought the Charter Communications Chevrolet home in 10th place, collecting the teams 20th top-10 finish of the 2014 season. Ty Dillon Finishes 30th after On-Track Incident at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Ty Dillon drove the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet Camaro to a 30th-place finish Friday night in the Race for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, after getting collected in an on-track incident on lap 74. The 22-year-old, Welcome, N.C.-native qualified 11th earlier in the afternoon and was able to run inside the top five before the team’s first pit stop on lap 58. Dillon reported that his No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet was handling very well through the corners and the team had a fast race car. On lap 74, after a green-flag restart, Dillon was caught in an on-track incident that created heavy damage to the No. 3 Chevrolet and ended the team’s night. The NASCAR Nationwide Series will resume competition at Texas Motor Speedway on November 1.

We struggled in both practice sessions yesterday and we changed the setup in the car hoping that it would be the right one, and it was. Unfortunately we got caught up in a wreck that ended our night. I hate it for my team. But it’s part of the game and we’ll have to move on to Texas in three weeks.”
A Cut Right Front Tire Thwarts Cale Conley’s Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway
A cut right-front tire thwarted Cale Conley’s evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race. Conley started the 200-lap affair from the 12th position and immediately felt an issue with his No. 33 IAVA Chevrolet. On lap 21 the Vienna, W. VA-native’s tire let go sending him into the outside wall. Conley made his way to pit road to allow the Nick Harrison- led crew to assess the damage. The 22-year old returned to the track three-laps down in the 31st position. On the ensuing 47-lap green-flag run Conley showed lap times as strong as those inside the top 15. The caution-flag flew on lap 68, Harrison instructed Conley to remain on the track for the wave-around and hope for a quick caution. Green-flag racing resumed, but shortly thereafter the No. 33 Chevrolet driver was collected in an incident on the frontstetch. The damage was too much to repair thus ending his evening early.

CALE CONLEY QUOTE: “It was such a tough night for this IAVA team. We had a mechanical issue in practice and battled back to qualify 11th, but had a tire issue early in the race. Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino team qualified 14th for Friday night’s Drive for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Gaughan reported he was battling a tight-handling Chevrolet on lap 14. The Shane Wilson-led team made a wedge adjustment during the first pit stop on lap 18 that improved the handling of the No. 62 machine. On lap 47 the Las Vegas-native broke into the top 10 and by lap 63 was up to third. A late-race pit stop restarted the Richard Childress Racing team in the 18th position on lap 190. The 39-year-old driver crossed the line 16th at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Gaughan and the No. 62 team are eighth in the driver point standings as the Series takes a two week hiatus and will return in November at Texas Motor Speedway.
