American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Kyle Gray ‘Riding with Ryan’

For the eighth time this season, Roush Fenway Racing’s Ryan Reed has a special guest riding along with him during Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Kansas Speedway.  The No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSMpresented by Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang will carry Kyle Gray’s name above the passenger side window.

Gray was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2013, at the age of eight.  Instead of letting the disease define him, Gray has continued life as any 10-year-old would.  In addition to his duties as an American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador, the Grain Valley, Mo. native enjoys playing cards and video games and spending time with his friends.

The ‘Riding with Ryan’ program rolls into its eighth weekend at Kansas Speedway.  The name of an American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador will be featured on the No. 16 Ford Mustang at 11 races this season, coinciding with races where there is an activation space for Drive to Stop Diabetes.

Drive to Stop Diabetespresented by Lilly Diabetes will host an activation space in the fan midway at a total of 14 races during the 2014 season.  The display area features the No. 16 Drive to Stop Diabetes racing simulator, diabetes awareness and educational materials, as well as various prizes.

“I’m thrilled to have Kyle’s name on our Mustang this weekend in Kansas,” said Reed.  “These Youth Ambassadors are always such an inspiration.  The American Diabetes Association, Lilly Diabetes and the whole Drive to Stop Diabetes platform is successful because of people like Kyle.  It’s so important to me to be able to show people living with diabetes that it doesn’t have to define who you are, and Kyle is a great example of that.”
