At Atlanta, Armstrong Looks to Showcase Improvement on Mile-and-a-half Tracks

It’s been six races since the last NASCAR Nationwide Series race on a mile-and-a-half track and nine races since the race at Kentucky Speedway. The Nationwide race at Kentucky is significant to Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 43 WinField team because it showcased their improvement at the mile-and-a-half tracks. Armstrong was having a strong run, running in and out of the Top-10 and Top-15 until a tire went down forcing the WinField Ford into the wall. Armstrong still managed a Top-20 finish, but the team looks to Atlanta as another chance to showcase their improvements at the mile-and-a-half tracks.  


 

Armstrong has one start at Atlanta in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2012 where he earned at Top-25 finish. The Nationwide team at Richard Petty Motorsports has two starts at the Georgia track with a Top-10 and a Top-15 finish.

“From what I can remember, it’s one of the most abrasive tracks. You’re pretty fast the first couple laps, and then it falls off. I seem to do better at tracks like that, so hopefully, we can go there and have a good run. I feel like places that have a little bit of fall off plays to my advantage a bit.


 

“The track is really slick, so we need to make sure our car is good enough to be able to race when the tires fall off. You race the track there more than you do most of the mile-and-a-half tracks, so that makes it fun. Atlanta is unique because it’s an old surface and you can move around on the track and really use up the car. So, I’m excited to go back.”
