NNS: Keselowski Captures U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway

Brad Keselowski captured the victory Saturday night at the Iowa Speedway after dominating the field by leading a total of a 146 laps. The win didn’t come easy for him as he had to hold off Sam Hornish Jr. for most of the night. Keselowski made up one of the two drivers this evening who will run in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday at the Pocono Raceway. Tonight was Keselowski’s 30th win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Coming home in second was Michael McDowell after gaining a ton of positions when the final caution came out late into the race. McDowell was able to atleast lead one lap this evening but fell just shy of the victory by 0.887 seconds. Tonight’s second-place finish ties him for his best in the series. This was his seventh top-10 finish after making eight previous starts.

Coming home in third tonight was Trevor Bayne after starting the U.S. Cellular 250 from the pole position. Bayne, however, got shuffled back through the field and drove his way back to salvage a third-place finish. Tonight he earned his fifth top-10 finish out of eight starts at the 0.875-mile oval. He was 0.179 seconds behind the race winner.

Chase Elliott will leave the Iowa Speedway with a two point lead over teammate Regan Smith. Sitting in third rides Elliott Sadler with 12 points behind the leader. Ty Dillon, who was the race highest finishing rookie, leaves in the fourth spot. Rounding out the top-five sits Trevor Bayne with 41 points behind.

The next race for the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be at Watkins Glen. Race will be televised live at 2:15 p.m. Et, on ABC. The Motor Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast of the event. Brad Keselowski is the defending race winner.
