TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: Indianapolis

The 250-mile NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is complete. The Lilly Diabetes 250 post race notes below:

 

Mike Bliss and the No. 19 Tweaker Energy Shot Camry Finished 22nd

Tweaker Energy Shot was back on board this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Mike Bliss qualified 29th after battling a tight racecar during practice and qualifying. Bliss and the No. 19 team made the adjustments needed during qualifying to help free up his Camry. By lap 5, Bliss had gained six positions and continued to battle a tight racecar. Bliss was scored in the 17th position on lap 34 and continued to gain positions on track. During the competition caution, Bliss brought the No. 19 Tweaker Camry to pit road for four tires, fuel, track bar adjustments, wedge adjustments and a windshield tear off. With 21 laps to go, Bliss was running 21st and would advance one position to finish the race 22nd.

 

David Starr and the No. 44 Hard Hat Heroes Camry Finished 25th

David Starr qualified 24th for the Lilly Diabetes 250 in the No. 44 Hard Hat Heroes Camry. Starr reported early into the race that his No. 44 Camry was tight. When the caution came out at lap 15, Starr brought his Camry to pit road for four tires, fuel and a small track bar adjustment. With 65 laps to go, Starr was running 15th and was quiet on the radio. The No. 44 Camry came to pit road on lap 48 for four tires, fuel and a windshield tear off. Starr was happy with the cars handling and with 40 laps to go, he brought his Camry to pit road for Sunoco fuel only. With 16 laps remaining, Starr was running 25th and brought home a 25th place finish at the 2.5-mile speedway.

 

Eric McClure and the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry Finished 36th

The No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry qualified 28th for Saturday afternoon’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, Eric McClure felt something break during qualifying, so when the team went to the garage they found out that the right front wheel hub broke during his qualifying run. After starting from the rear of the field, McClure quickly advanced his position and by lap three he was scored in the 31st position. When the first caution flag was shown at lap 15, McClure came to pit road for four tires, fuel, air-pressure and track-bar adjustments. After his pit stop under caution, McClure radioed in to the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® team that he had a bad vibration and the team went to the garage. After looking over the car, McClure returned to the track, but unfortunately returned to the garage with a vibration. The team diagnosed the issue as a power steering pump failure and did not return to the track. McClure finished the race in the 36th position.
