Kyle Busch No. 54 Monster Energy Indianapolis Team Preview

This week the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) will return to the famed Indianapolis (Ind.) Motor Speedway (IMS) where they will compete for only the third time in series history. In the inaugural IMS Nationwide Series race, Kyle Busch started from the front row in second place and led 51 of the 100-event laps, until an accident forced the then owner-driver into the grass and onto pit road, with costly time lost, it took away Busch’s chance at completing victory in the special arena. He finished 22nd that season. During last year’s event, Busch again showed his strength, this time with the finish he hoped for one year earlier. The 2013 race watched the No. 54 Monster Energy Camry qualify on the pole position and dominate the field over 92circuits of the 100-lap race, before the team captured the win and took their first chance to ‘kiss the bricks.’

Among 11 career races at the famous Brickyard, Busch has recorded the one win, maintained seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes along with 185 laps led. JGR statistics in the Nationwide Series at the Indianapolis events record one win, one pole, one top-five finish, three top-10 finishes and 99 laps led.

IMS is undoubtedly a track mortared with victories recorded by many of motorsports’ finest. As the winningest driver in the Nationwide series, with 66 career victories registered to date, it’s fitting for Busch to return to the seat of his Monster Energy machine, in search of the checkered flag, with this winning JGR Toyota Racing team, on such a historical speedway.
