Back to Bristol…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) returns to Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) for the second and final time this season on Friday, August 23 for the Food City 250. Kyle Larson will be making his second start at the famed 0.533-mile track after finishing second to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular Kyle Busch earlier this season.
The Countdown Is On…Larson will be showcased on NASCAR Countdown prior to the start of Friday night’s Food City 250 on ESPN. The feature will focus on Larson’s love of racing, highlighting the four different cars he raced at three tracks over the course of five days earlier this month. Between the NNS races at Iowa Speedway and Watkins Glen, Larson also competed in the Knoxville Nationals and at Southern Iowa Speedway with ESPN following him to catch all the action.
Welcome Back Cottonelle…Larson’s No. 32 Camaro will again sport the Cottonelle colors this weekend at BMS. In his two previous starts with the Kimberly-Clark brand on board, Larson brought home two top 10s, finishing second at Bristol in the spring and seventh at Road America in June.
This Week’s Camaro…Crew chief Trent Owens and the No. 32 Cottonelle team have prepared chassis TSM-323 for use in Friday night’s race at BMS. This particular chassis has been used five times this season by Larson and his Turner Scott Motorsports team, earning a top finish of second (Bristol, March) and an average finish of 8.4.
Watch and Listen…The Food City 250 will be broadcast on ESPN, with coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Larson will be featured as the in-race reporter for the 250-lap event. You can also listen to the race live by tuning in to PRN Radio or SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.
Previous Race Recap…Despite having no road-course experience prior to this season, Larson visited Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 looking for a solid finish in his No. 32 McDonald’s Chevrolet Camaro. After doing well in Thursday’s test sessions and finishing 12th and seventh in Friday’s two practice sessions, Larson earned his best qualifying effort of the season, starting the 90-lap race from the fourth position. An incident on lap one left Larson three laps down, but the rookie got back onto the lead lap and worked his way up to the top five before a wild last lap left him with a 14th-place finish.
