Nelson Piquet NNS Preview: Bristol Motor Speedway II

The High Banks…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) will make its second trip of the 2013 season to Bristol, Tenn. and the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) Friday night for the Food City 250. Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his third career NNS start at BMS. He finished 34th at the first race of the season held at the 0.533-mile track after an accident left him and the No. 30 team unable to finish the race.

New Crew Chief…Piquet Jr. will have a new crew chief starting this weekend at BMS, as veteran crew chief Pat Tryson will take over calling the shots for the No. 30 team. Tryson is no stranger to success at the Tennessee short track, having one win, three top five and seven top 10s in 30 starts at the 0.533-mile oval.

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 30 WORX team will have chassis TSM-335 for Friday night’s race at BMS. TSM- 335 has been used five times this season, most recently at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where Piquet Jr. brought it home to a 12th-place finish.

Mid-Ohio Recap…The NNS made its third and final road-course stop of the 2013 season last weekend at the famed 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200. Piquet Jr. and his No. 30 WORX Yard Tools team looked to build on their top-10 effort from two weeks ago at Watkins Glen during the 90-lap event. Piquet Jr. and his Turner Scott Motorsports team started the weekend by earning their best starting spot of the season, qualifying fifth at the road course. After staying in the top 10 most of the afternoon, Piquet Jr. and the No. 30 WORX Yard Tools team were credited with a 27th-place finish after running out of gas during the green/white/checkered finish.

Yard Tools…Piquet Jr. will again display the WORX Yard Tools colors on the No. 30 this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Nelson Piquet Jr. on his return to Bristol:

“I am looking forward to getting back on the track and racing under the lights this Friday night at Bristol. The Bristol night race is such a cool experience and one of the races that we all look forward to every year. I am excited to start working with Pat Tryson this weekend.  He has a lot of experience at Bristol, so hopefully we can take that experience and turn it into a good finish for our WORX Yard tools Chevy.”
