Valvoline™ Motor Oil and Travis Pastrana Premiere the NextGen™ Stunt Amplifier “Ultimate Wakeboard Grind Challenge”

Valvoline, a brand of Ashland Inc., with Roush Fenway Racing and its NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Travis Pastrana, today unveiled a newly created stunt video – the “Ultimate Wakeboard Grind Challenge” as part of the NextGen Stunt Amplifier program. Ashland’sValvoline brand, the manufacturer of NextGen recycled motor oil technology made with 50% re-refined oil, worked to “recycle” a homemade stunt video using fan-suggested amplifications to make it bigger and better, including more air and pyrotechnics.

Fans can visit youtube.com/Valvoline to view the new spot, featuring stunt man and pro wakeboarder Chad Sharpe, who curated the high-intensity move alongside Pastrana and the Valvoline team. Together, they took to Pastrana’s action sports resort, Nitro City, in Panama, to film the action-packed video.

“We had a lot of fun with this stunt,” said Pastrana, driver of the #60 Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Racing. “Valvoline was committed to re-imagining what this stunt could be and pushing the limits of what Chad could do. The result is an epic video I’m sure people will enjoy.”

Fan input for the stunt varied from adding a launch ramp to turbo boosters, with over 630,000 views and thousands of fan suggestions over the course of the campaign. The Valvoline team and Pastrana worked together to hand-select a stunt to amplify that would provide an opportunity to push the envelope while demonstrating just how exciting recycling can be.

“With Valvoline NextGen, we set out to change people’s perception of the word ‘recycling'” said Michelle Allen, brand manager for Valvoline global brands. “Between our exciting victories on the race track, our recreated and amplified stunt with Travis and Chad, and awesome product features that benefit drivers on the road, I think we’ve proven that recycling can be exciting.”

The NextGen Stunt Amplifier is the latest program in a multi-year partnership with Roush Fenway Racing. In 2011, Roush Fenway Racing first adopted NextGen motor oil technology, testing it at the lab and on the track. In 2012, impressed with the oil’s performance, Roush Fenway Racing announced that it would shift all of its Sprint Cup and Nationwide racecars to use a racing formulation of Valvoline with NextGen technology. Since 2011, regular season cars using Valvoline with NextGen technology have won a total of 66 races, including 19 victories in NASCAR with Roush Fenway Racing. In addition, Valvoline with NextGen technology has won two Nationwide Series Championships with Roush Fenway Racing in 2011 and 2012.

High quality, stand-out performance and environmental benefits have helped make Valvoline NextGen motor oil the fastest-growing product introduction in Valvoline’s 140 year-plus history. NextGen innovation combines recycled base oil – of the same quality as crude-refined base oil – with Valvoline’s award-winning additive chemistry. The result is new oil made with 50% recycled oil that is produced with 90% less energy; producing 31% less greenhouse gas emissions. Valvoline with NextGen technology exceeds API specifications and matches Valvoline’s stringent standards.

NextGen motor oil is available in conventional, high-mileage, and full synthetic formulas. For further product information, visit www.NextGen.Valvoline.com.
