Landon Cassill tends to get excited when the Nationwide Series stops at NASCAR’s monster tracks at Daytona Beach, Fla. and Talladega, Ala.
Cassill and JD Motorsports with Gary Keller teammate Mike Wallace ran in a tight draft in the top 10 in the May 4 Nationwide race at Talladega before both were caught up in a final-lap, multi-car crash that left Cassill in 17th.
“Daytona is always fun because it’s a superspeedway and anything can happen,” Cassill said. “At Talladega, I was pushing Mike just before we got wrecked, and we had great runs going. That can happen at these big tracks. Daytona is always a fun place to race.”
Cassill will be driving the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet in Friday night’s Subway Firecracker 250. Under the lights at Daytona, magic happens. Cassill is looking for a bit of it this week.
