Off To The Races…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) heads to Kentucky Speedway for the first of two events at the Sparta, Ky. facility in 2013. Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Kyle Larson comes into the Friday night event with more experience than most tracks he has encountered on the NNS schedule. Larson made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut with Turner Scott Motorsports in the first event at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval in 2012, earning a 10th-place finish. In his most recent NNS start at a 1.5-mile oval (Charlotte Motor Speedway), Larson battled back from an 18th-place starting position to finish fourth.
Keep The Streak…Larson has scored three top-five and six top-10 finishes in his last six events, advancing from 12th in the NNS Driver Point Standings after Talladega to seventh in the points following last weekend’s event at Road America. In those last six events, Larson has earned an impressive average finish of 5.6. The No. 32 team hopes to continue the top-10 streak when they hit the track on Friday night in Kentucky.

This Week’s Camaro…Crew chief Trent Owens and the No. 32 Clear Men Scalp Therapy Camaro team have prepared chassis TSM-331 for competition this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. TSM-331 most recently hit the track at Darlington Raceway where Larson drove it to a seventh-place finish.
DASH 4 CASH… This weekend’s race at Kentucky Speedway will serve as the Qualifier for the first Dash 4 Cash race at Daytona International Speedway on July 5. The top-four finishers in the Feed The Children 300 running for NNS championship driver points are eligible for the first Dash 4 Cash bonus in Daytona.
Previous Race Recap…Larson demonstrated a quick learning curve in his first ever trip to Road America, earning a seventh-place finish with his No. 32 Cottonelle Camaro in the Johnsonville Sausage 200 and gaining multiple spots in the point standings. Larson battled his way back from a mid-race spin that set him back to the 29th position, avoiding a rash of cautions and fighting to earn his sixth-consecutive top-10 finish in his road course debut.

“I’m actually really looking forward to Kentucky Speedway. Kentucky is where I made my first Truck Series start for Turner Scott Motorsports last year; we started off strong together and we’ve run strong ever since. There are so many Nationwide tracks that we go to that I don’t have any experience on, so it’s nice to be able to head somewhere I’ve raced before and shorten that learning curve a little bit. The No. 32 team has a lot of momentum right now, we’ve just earned six top-10 finishes in a row and we’ve chipped away a lot in the point standings. TSM’s cars are always fast at intermediate tracks, so I think it’s going to be a really strong weekend for the Clear Men team.”
