Timothy Peters No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra Atlanta Motor Speedway Advance

Improvement on Intermediate: Nine days after covering the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series field and leading all 204 laps at Bristol Motor Speedway en route to victory, Timothy Peters and his Red Horse Racing crew will return to competition at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Though Red Horse Racing has not yet scored a victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at any intermediate track in his eight year history, Peters is encouraged after the improvements he experienced at a similar track, Chicagoland Speedway, earlier this year. Crew chief Butch Hylton and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing crew have prepared the same Toyota Tundra chassis for Peters that he drove to a third place finish at Chicagoland.

“I can’t wait to get to Atlanta, especially coming off a run like we had at Bristol. Since I’ve been at Red Horse, we’ve been able to cover wins at tracks from Daytona to Bristol, but we haven’t gotten that mile and a half win. We had to start from the rear of the field at Chicago and I was able to drive all the way up to the lead and eventually finish third with the same Toyota Tundra we’ll have at Atlanta,” Peters explained. “I feel like we’re ready to take it to the next level and get that win.”

Racing for Awareness: Toyota Racing kicked off ‘Racing For Awareness’ last Friday, a friendly competition among women affiliated with the Toyota NASCAR program to design t-shirts that will support breast cancer awareness. Among the participants are two members of the Red Horse Racing family, Sara Peters, wife of driver Timothy Peters, and Janet Bodine, wife of driver Todd Bodine. The winning design will be selected from fan votes and produced during the Charlotte race weekend in October, and Toyota will donate $500 in the name of each participant to Carolina Breast Friends in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Vote at www.toyotaracing.com/RacingForAwareness  now through Oct. 4, 2012.

Weekend Appearances:NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship points leader Timothy Peters will join teammates Parker Kligerman and Todd Bodine at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Fan Stage on Friday night at 6:45 pm. The drivers will be available to answer questions and greet fans in attendance.

Previous Race Recap:For the first time since 1997, a driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series led all of the laps en route to the victory. Wednesday night, Timothy Peters was the driver who repeated history and made it happen in dominating style in the UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Starting from the outside of the front row and leading all 204 laps, including a green-white-checkered finish, Peters nabbed his second victory of the year.

Chassis History:Chassis number 73 will make another appearance with Timothy Peters behind the wheel this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The last appearance for this Tundra was at Chicagoland Speedway in July, where Peters drove up to the lead within the last ten laps and finished third.
