Larson Battles Back for a Top-Five Finish after Equipment Issue on Pit Road

Kyle Larson drove the No. 24 DC Solar Chevrolet to a fourth-place finish in Friday night’s Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Larson started the 134-lap event from the third position and was a fixture in the top five until taking over the lead on lap 23. He led the field until the second caution of the night occurred on lap 43. Larson reported to the team that he needed more drive off and came to pit road for four tires and fuel, restarting in the sixth-position on lap 47. He regained the lead on lap 54 and led until lap 83 after a fierce battle with William Byron and Matt Crafton. Larson regained a steady lead on lap 89 and held that until the final caution of the night occurred on lap 111. Crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz called Larson to pit road for four tires and fuel, restarting ninth on lap 114. Larson worked his way up to the fourth position by lap 12 and remained there until crossing the start-finish line.

KYLE LARSON QUOTE:

“We had some equipment issues on pit road tonight that really cost us some spots there at the end where it counted. We had a really fast DC Solar Chevrolet but had to be smart. Thank you to DC Solar and GMS Racing for the opportunity to come out here and compete with these and be a part of this team. Congrats to Johnny Sauter for claiming the Championship tonight, that was huge for GMS Racing.”
