Runner-Up Result For Gallagher Rounds Out One-Two Finish for GMS at Talladega

Spencer Gallagher and the No. 23 Allegiant Travel team started the fred’s 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in third place on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. The Las Vegas native finished second for his best finish of the 2016 season.

Gallagher was running within the top-10 ranks until caution came out on lap 37. Another truck blocked Gallagher’s pit stall, extending the team’s stop and causing the No. 23 to drop to the 21st position. Gallagher battled back into the top-five position on lap 60, just before caution occurred on lap 61. He came to pit road to take fuel only and returned to the field in the 10th position, but moved up into sixth after the leaders decided to pit late. Gallagher used the draft with teammates Ben Kennedy, Grant Enfinger and Johnny Sauter to his advantage to maneuver through the field. When the caution waved for the final time setting up a green-white-checkered finish, Gallagher found himself battling Enfinger for the lead on the last lap. The 26-year-old came up just short, crossing the start-finish line in the second position. This result marks Gallagher’s career best restrictor plate finish and second top-10 finish in three starts at Talladega.

SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:

“We had one fast Allegiant Travel Chevrolet today and it kills me that I didn’t win but I am sure glad that is was Grant (Enfinger) that did. That was an intense race and to be able to collect my best restrictor plate finish is just awesome. It was an overall great day for GMS Racing and I hope to see that success continue over the last few races of the season.”
