Tyler Reddick Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Race Recap

An off track excursion late in the Chevrolet Silverado 250 derailed Tyler Reddick’s chances for a good finish Sunday afternoon at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park  (Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada).

The disappointing turn of events in the closing laps of the race should not taint Reddick’s overall performance.  The young driver entered the event with zero road course experience and did an admirable job during practice, qualifying and the race. Reddick (@TylerReddick) posted the fastest speed during the opening round of time trials in the Stoney Creek Records Ford F-150, edging BKR teammate Alex Tagliani.  He nailed down the fourth starting position in the second and final session.

When the race started, Tyler settled into sixth position after the initial start and stayed there until he made his first pit stop of the day for fuel only on lap 6.

Reddick was running eighth when he made a scheduled green flag stop for four tires and a tank of fuel on lap 35.  When the pit stop cycle was complete he was 10th on lap 43.

On lap 45 the third caution slowed the race and one lap later crew chief Doug Randolph called Reddick to the pit lane for four tires and fuel.  The move was designed to arm the young driver with fresh tires for the stretch run to the finish. Tyler restarted 16th when the race went green on lap 47 of the 64 lap race.  He went to work picking his way through traffic and moved up to 10th by lap 56.

As the event entered its closing stages, Reddick was racing for position just outside the top 10.  With three laps to go, he tangled with another truck in Turn 8 bringing out the fifth and final caution.  Tyler was able to drive back to the pit lane where the team hastily made cosmetic repairs. Reddick lost two laps in the process and was credited with a 19th place finish in the final rundown.  He is third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings, 15 points behind the leader.
