Tyler Young hopes to get lucky in Kentucky

With the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) having a small break in action since it’s last race, the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Tyler Young is more than ready to get back behind the wheel of his No. 02 AKL Insurance Group Chevrolet Silverado. Looking to rebound from a top-20 finish, the Texas-native is eager to race under the lights Thursday night in the UNOH 225 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta.

With two previous NCWTS starts in the “Bluegrass State,” the Young’s Motorsports driver has a bit of extra confidence built up for when he straps in for the 150-lap event. Along with prior track experience, Young has been working hard to improve his mile-in-a-half skills, which include two top-15 finishes in the series last two intermediate track stops at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth (14th), and Gateway Motorsports Park (15th).

Adding to his excitement of returning to Kentucky Speedway, the Young Motorsports driver has even more to look forward to. The NCWTS regular will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in Friday night’s Kentucky 300. With anticipation of double duty building, Young is fully aware of the focus and determination it’s going to take to have two successful showings. However, not wanting to get overzealous, Young wants to use this opportunity as a major learning experience for his racing career in both the short and long run.

Still sitting within striking distance of the top-10 in the NCWTS driver point standings, Young feels like he’s poised to secure his second career top-10 finish of the 2015 season during the UNOH 225.

Sounding Off – Tyler Young:

“I’m looking forward to Kentucky this weekend for sure, especially since i’m making my Xfinity Series debut. I got my first mile-and-a-half NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start there, and it’s one of the tracks on the circuit that I have more experience on. We’ve spent a lot of time on the pull-down rig making sure our Kentucky truck would be good to go when we unloaded. I’m ready to go, and I’m definitely ready to see what the weekend holds. Hopefully we can bounce back from Iowa, and get the top-10 finish I know we’re capable of.”
